Faith Formation and Religious Education

Picture
Please register now.  Classes will begin and be structured according to guidance from the state of Maryland, Baltimore County, the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and St. Ursula’s Covid-19 taskforce.  This means that, while we are hoping to gather as usual beginning in September, we may begin the year continuing at-home formation.  We also ask parents to prayerfully consider helping so that when we can gather in person again we will have smaller classes and the ability to clean the rooms again for the next morning.
Traditional Weekly Religious Education
These classes are open to all families with children in pre-k through 8th grade. Meetings will be held once per week on Monday evenings from 7pm-8:15pm in Saint Ursula School, with current start date anticipated being in mid-September. These classes are classroom based with children grouped by grades.

Family Faith Formation
These classes are open to all families with children in pre-k through 8th grade. Meetings will be held once per month on Saturday evenings from 6pm-8pm in the Spiritual Center beginning Sept. 11. Family Faith Formation requires a parent or guardian to attend the meeting sessions, and complete lessons at home between sessions with the children. A potluck meal will be provided each session, and families will be asked to help set up and clean up on a rotating basis.

Religious Education PreK - 8th grade
Tuition: 1 child $75     2 or more children $125
As an integral part of our faith formation curriculum, we will be teaching Catechesis for Family Life. This age-appropriate program about Christian living, chastity, character formation, and safe environment training promotes communication between you and your child. You are encouraged to review the program materials that the teacher/catechist will be using in the classroom, as well as the materials you will receive for home discussion. After examining the program, if you have any questions or concerns about your child participating in this program, please contact Laura Weatherington at Laura.Weatherington@archbalt.org.

Summary of religious education curriculum by grade

Archdiocesan regulations specify that children must receive religious education one year prior in addition to the sacrament year in order to receive a sacrament. (First Communion, Penance, Confirmation.) Registration is required.

No student will be refused religious education classes due to financial difficulties.
Please contact the office to arrange payment plans or for other special considerations - 410-665-4106.
