Saint Ursula Parish Year in Review
July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017
Dear Parishioners and Friends,
I am happy to report to you the financial results for St. Ursula Parish for the 2017 Fiscal Year. As always, we thank God for your generous support of our parish. I would like to highlight some of the events and activities that we accomplished during this fiscal year.
We celebrated a total of 59 Baptisms (and professions of faith), 99 First Communions, 82 Confirmations, 18 Marriages and 90 Funerals. Our School enrollment was 600+ students in Pre-K4 through 8th Grade. We had 120 + children in our religious education programs and many adults participating in Adult Faith Formation activities.
This past year, we said goodbye to Rosemary Startt, Karen Seifert, and Dick Keys, who all retired from their positions at St. Ursula Parish (although Dick is still volunteering with our St. Vincent de Paul Society.) We continued to work together with Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in utilizing the services of our associate pastor, Fr. Stephen Gosnell. Please continue to pray for vocations to the Priesthood.
Our total Offertory Income increased 4.2% or $36,328. This was due to your generous response to our Take the Next Step Offertory Program. Your generosity has helped St. Ursula to maintain a strong financial position and continue to fund our many ministries and capital needs. The percentage of Offertory Income received through FaithDirect increased from 28.0% to 29.6%. If you have not yet signed up for FaithDirect, please consider doing so at www.faithdirect.net - parish code MD402.
I would like to highlight some of our charitable giving that was done during the fiscal year:
St. Vincent de Paul - $23,756
Special Archdiocesan Collections - $17,531
Donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor- $2,959
St. Ursula School Support - $49,725 (which includes restricted donations)
St. Dominic’s Parish - $5,629.
This does not count food, Advent giving tree donations, and pregnancy center donations among other types of charitable giving. Some of these proceeds came from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, which we received $21,580 in rebates from our pledges and reached our parish goal for the first time, so Thank You!
We received $23,925 plus interest from your pledge payments to the Archdiocesan Capital Campaign: Embracing Our Mission-Shaping Our Future. Because of your generosity, we were able to work on our church organ, replace some rectory windows, and replace some of the flat roofs on the Church. These projects were part of our case elements for the Capital Campaign so I thank you for your continued pledge payments.
Again, I would like to thank you for your generous support of time, talent and treasure to St. Ursula Parish over the past year. Your response to the promptings of the Holy Spirit has been a true blessing in helping us to be missionary disciples of Jesus Christ. Please continue to keep St. Ursula Parish and School in your prayers.
God Bless You for your Generosity!
