Religious Education Curriculum for Elementary School Students

 

1st Grade - Grade 1 focuses on the theme of the Holy Trinity; God as the creator, Jesus and the Holy Spirit as helper and guide. They will also learn about prayer and the Our Father.

2nd Grade - Grade 2 will learn about Community, Parish, Sacraments, Man, and Eucharist. Also being taught will be Jesus' values and our responsibilities.

3rd Grade - Grade 3 will learn about the Catholic Church, the Christian Community, and God the Father. They will also review the mission, the message, the prayer, and the action of God's special family.

4th Grade - Grade 4 will learn the Beatitudes, the Commandments, God's forgiveness, Christian Morality, good as opposed to evil, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

5th Grade - Grade 5 will be taught about Jesus, the Sacraments, and the Church. They will also learn how we celebrate the presence and action of our lives through seven special signs.

6th Grade - Grade 6 will learn about the Old Testament, the Bible, and Moses and the Israelites; the message of the prophets. They will learn how sacramental signs are rooted in the Old Testament through symbolic actions. They will recognize the Bible as a valuable source of guidance in a challenging world. Each chapter of grade 6 has connected a biblical story with a part of your child's life story- linking the Bible and Life.
